Brazil Vs Switzerland: Match Preview

By Tom Peel

Today at the 974 Stadium in Doha Brazil will look to confirm their qualification into the next round of the world cup with a victory over opponents Switzerland. The Swiss will also be coming into the fixture knowing that a win would be enough to qualify them to the next round as both sides recorded wins in their first game of the tournament against Serbia and Cameroon respectively.
Tottenham and Brazil’s Richarlison will be looking to continue his fine scoring run after scoring both Brazil goals in their first game against Serbia, one of which was a goal of the tournament contender with a wonderful overhead kick. However Brazil will be missing their star man in Neymar who suffered an ankle injury during the Serbia game which will now see him out for the remainder of the group stages. Another notable miss for the Brazilians is right back Danilo who is not fit for the game on Monday night. Switzerland are coming into this game with a clean bill of health which can only be seen as an advantage over the 5 time winners of the world cup.

The other game in their group today was a game between Cameroon and Serbia which ended up as a 3-3 draw which is not helpful to either side as they now sit bottom with just one point to their names respectively.
Switzerland will be looking to keep up their winning ways in this one after a goal from Breel Embolo in their first fixture was enough to carry them past a very tough and resilient Cameroon side.
History tells us that this game more often than not ends up being a draw with 4 out of the 9 games that have been played between the two sides ending with a draw while Brazil have won 3 of the fixtures while Switzerland have recorded 2 wins against the south American side.
This game will be a great way for Brazil to demonstrate what they are about as a team especially with the notable absence of their star Neymar as they will need to make some adjustments to their attacking style to combat the issues that has been caused by the PSG star being out with injury.
With the quality that is on display for this game it is sure to be an exciting and entertaining match that will be filled with thrills and hopefully lots of goals.
This game will kick off around 4pm UK time and will be televised in the UK on ITV
