Buckhurst Hill FC vs Sawbridgeworth Town Match Report
By Thomas Batt
After a difficult week with a loss to Clapton FC, Buckhurst Hill FC bounced back with a memorizing display saw Buckhurst Hill comeback from behind to win an outstanding 4-1 against rivals Sawbridgeworth Town FC and inflicting the double over the visitors.
Hassan Nalbant, the home’s side leading scorer returned with a second half brace to secure their sides win.
On a typical Saturday 3pm kick off, the two sides started off very slowly with some very lack luster play. However, the first chance of the game came from Sawbridgeworth with a pinpoint delivery from a corner, for Jake Knight to head in the opening goal. Sawbridgeworth’s confidence grew after this early goal, especially with Knight who saw two opportunities later on just about fly over the bar.

However, the stags just before the break, found an opening in the Sawbridgeworth defense after a tactical quick freekick finds Louis Wynter who plays a through ball to Ezekiel Bademosi who slotted it tightly into the bottom corner, taking it to 1-1 at the break.
The goal just before the break threw some confidence into the Stags as they came out looking dangerous in the second half. Just 10 minutes in, the ball fell to the edge box where Nalbant smashed it home beautifully to give the stags the first time they lead in the game. Minutes later, with frustration from the Sawbridgeworth side took down Nalbant inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Nalbant takes control, places the ball on the spot and fires home his second of the afternoon.

The stags comfortably went on to control the game, and with the help of some fresh legs from the bench, Jake Moss also finds his goal after a through ball from Sonny Shilling finds him on the counter attack to secure all 3 points for the stags, although the final action of the game saw the Sawbridgeworth substitute Charles Irezise-Bruce head over from 5 yards out in a goal scoring opportunity, to really sum up the day for Sawbridgeworth Town.
The win takes Buckhurst Hill to 8th place in the Essex Senior League table, whilst Sawbridgeworth Town remain 18th just outside of the relation zone. Buckhurst Hill go on to welcome White Ensign FC to the league on Friday night who find themselves just above Sawbridgeworth.
