Liverpool 1 – 0 Manchester City

By Darren Reginald

Superb Salah gives Liverpool massive confidence boost after a disappointing start to the new season.
Liverpool put their woes behind as they came back to their best to beat their rivals Manchester City to give them hope in this season title race. Manchester City lost their invincibility run of away league games. The last time they lost their away game was back in August 2021 against Tottenham.
Even though City had the goal scoring machine Haaland in their side, Liverpool successfully managed to stop him from scoring thanks to Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez brilliant defence partnership.
Everyone was talking about Haaland because he was the main threat and goal scorer for City but it was Salah who made the headlines thanks to a brilliant control and finish to beat Ederson and cause Joao Cancelo to stumble with fourteen minutes left to play.
With six minutes remaining, Bernardo Silva kept hold onto Salah aggressively. This made Jurgen Klopp go mad towards the side line ref. As the game stopped for a minute, Anthony Taylor sent Klopp off to the stands.
Before Liverpool made the breakthrough, Pep Guardiola showed his frustration to Anthony Taylor as his side was disallowed with the goal as Haaland fouled Fabinho in the build up to the goal.
Liverpool came to this game as the underdogs ever since they did not have their best start to this season. Defensively as a team they played exceptional as they are the second team in the Premier League to stop Haaland from scoring. Whereas Salah made Anfield explode in the sea of red.
In Manchester City’s point of view, it is not a good sign, since Arsenal grabbed all three points against Leeds on the same day. This leaves them four points behind
