By Darren Reginald
Second straight win for Sutton United as they held onto a 1-0 lead against Barrow in the EFL League 2 at Borough Sports Ground on Saturday.
David Ajiboye was the match winner for Sutton United as they moved up to sixth in the league two table.
Completing a brilliant move, Sutton’s 16th minute goal saw them move into a play off spot and two points behind second place. The goal from Ajeboye was created by Rob Millsom’s intelligent through ball before the Sutton’s 23 year old right winger cut inside the defence and curled a shot in off the far post. This was David Ajeboye’s fourth goal in 19 games this season for Sutton.
Barrow created a few chances in the first half. Ozzy Zanzala missed an easy chance before Ajeboye opened the scoring. Zanzala chance missed again when he was through on goal.
Barrow’s performance improved towards the end of the game. Zanzala with the superb bicycle kick just scraping the top of the bar.
It is not looking good for the Cumbrians as they currently sit just one point above the relegation zone. Four games without a goal for Barrow, Mark Cooper left feeling under pressure.
At the end, defending from the corners and set pieces were important for Sutton. With a brilliant defensive performance from the U’s, they made it 2 wins out of 2 after the miserable 4-1 defeat at Leyton Orient.
Matt Gray was really happy about the team. He thought this win was crucial to bounce back.
