Fresh-legged Tottenham welcome Brentford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the second time this year, after sitting out the weekend action due to the weather. Things look very different this time as Brentford are just three points behind Tottenham, last time out Brentford were a whole division below.
Following Tottenham’s horrendous result in Europe last week, Antonio Conte would have appreciated the extra hours on the training pitch gifted to him due to the Burnley game being postponed. The extra rest and time with his new squad may prove vital over the packed Christmas period.
Brentford will be looking to continue Tottenham’s terrible London Derby run and make it six defeats in a row. This could potentially come after ending their own five game winless run at the weekend.
Tottenham - Oliver Skipp returns from suspension whiles Conte is still without summer signing Cristian Romero. Giovani Lo Celso faces a late fitness test ahead of Thursday’s game.
Brentford - Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jorgensen, Rico Henry and Sergi Canos are doubts after picking up knocks at the weekend. Frank will definitely be without David Raya leaving Brentford weak in goal. Josh Dasilva, Julian Jeanvier and Kristoffer Ajer will also be unavailable.
Head to head facts and stats:
• Tottenham and Brentford’s head to head record leaves Tottenham with 23 wins, Brentford with 6 wins and 13 draws.
• Thursday is the second time in a year Tottenham will welcome Brentford to their new stadium, last time out Mourinho’s Tottenham were 2-0 winners.
• Brentford haven’t won against Tottenham since 1948 in the old Division Two, if they were to win on Thursday it’d be their first win against them in 73 years.
