Jake Paul Vs Tommy Fury – Boxing Preview and Prediction
By Jai Rana
Paul vs Fury
American YouTuber Jake Paul will take on British Sensation Tommy Fury on 18th December at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. This will be Paul’s first fight against a professional boxer, as he steps away from fighting Youtubers and former UFC fighters. For Fury, this fight will be his eighth and it can be argued that this will be his most challenging battle yet. Fury is listed as the bookies’ odds-on favourite for this super clash. So, Paul will be heading into the ring as the underdog, for the first time in his short boxing career. Prior to the fight’s agreement, Paul and Fury engaged in an online brawl for months on end with both fighters eager to scrap it out in a ring, and that time is nearly here.

Jake Paul AKA "The Problem Child"
Jake Paul is 24 years old, standing at 6’ 1’’ and has a 76-inch reach. Paul entered the boxing space in 2018, fighting Youtuber Deji Olatunji at the Manchester Arena. Deji’s team threw in the towel after five rounds, crowning Paul the victor. This was the spark of Paul’s boxing flame, now his value and popularity has increased exponentially. Paul is currently one of the biggest names in boxing, although many boxing purists may hate this fact, there is no denying his bravery and drive. This will be his 5th fight and having won all previous four fights, the undefeated fighter will be looking to add to his tally of three knockouts. Paul’s most recent bout took place this year on the 29th of August in Cleveland, Ohio against MMA legend and former UFC Champion Tyron Woodley. Paul came out on top that night as he was announced winner by split decision. Going into this fight, Paul will be looking to cause a major upset to shut his critics up once and for all.
Tommy Fury AKA "TNT"
Tommy Fury has quite the reputation going into his first headline fight, he shot to fame after finishing as runner up on British dating game show Love Island’s season 5. And he is the younger brother of Lineal Heavyweight Champ Tyson Fury. 22 years old, he stands at 6’ and has an 80-inch reach. Likewise, to Paul, Fury also made his professional boxing debut in 2018 at the Manchester Arena, where he won via points decision beating Jevgenijs Andrejevs. Fury is now 7-0 and has a total of 4 knockouts. His last triumph was on the undercard of Jake Paul Vs Tyron Woodley, also marking his USA debut. On the night he overpowered Anthony Taylor by unanimous decision. Fury now gears up for the biggest night of his boxing life, where he will hope to live up to his words of ending Paul’s boxing career.
Prediction
Fury holds a four-inch reach advantage over Paul and has a decent hook. Paul knows how to work the body well and possesses a terrific jab. On the other hand, Paul can get carried away leaving himself open at times and for Fury he can be careless in defence sometimes. Hence, both fighters have their own strengths and weaknesses.
This is an eight-round fight and Fury has only experienced four round bouts before. In those past fights Fury has showed signs of slowing and this could be a worry in the later rounds with Paul more comfortable when it comes to stamina. However, I think Fury will start strong and look to end the fight in the early stages not allowing Paul the luxury of dragging the fight out.
- Tommy Fury Win Via Second Round TKO (technical knockout)
