Lewandowski robbed for the second time!

On November 29th 2021 the Ballon D’or ceremony was held and Lionel Messi won his seventh Golden Ball. Even though Lionel Messi is one of the greatest footballers to have ever lived and no doubt is deserving of very high praise there is one other footballer that deserved the plaudits not only this year in 2021 but also last year in 2020 and his name is Robert Lewandowski.
Firstly, the Ballon D’or of 2020 was not awarded to anyone due to the impact Covid had on the footballing world however, it was quite a strange decision from the French FA as all the other leagues in Europe carried on whilst the French leagues did not and therefore the French FA said that the Ballon D’or will not be awarded for 2020. Despite the decision from the French FA to not award the Ballon D’or to anyone for 2020 many people believe that Bayern Munich Striker Robert Lewandowski should have been given the Ballon D’or and a lot of statistics and what the striker has achieved proves that exact point.
In 2020, Lewandowski with Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and also Bayern won the Champions League beating Paris Saint Germain in the final. Robert Lewandowski in particular was a standout in each of the competitions named above. First in the Bundesliga Lewandowski scored a total of 34 goals and 4 assists in 31 games that he played. In the DFB-Pokal Lewandowski scored 6 goals in 5 games and in the Champions League Lewandowski scored 15 goals and 6 assists in 10 games. This means that Lewandowski Scored 55 goals and got 10 assists in just 46 games. Adding to that the 3 big major honours that Lewandowski played an integral part in and the final verdict on that the Ballon D’or 2020 was not awarded to him means that Lewandowski was robbed for the 1st time.
Furthermore, the Ballon D’or 2021 ceremony did go ahead and Lionel Messi won the award in question as mentioned above. However, again many people have said that Robert Lewandowski was robbed for a 2nd time. Even the winner of his 7th Ballon D’or Lionel Messi said in his acceptance speech that Robert Lewandowski deserved the award instead. In 2021 Robert Lewandowski continued his amazing form for Bayern Munich. In the Bundesliga Lewandowski scored 41 goals and got 7 assists in 29 games and in the Champions League he has scored 6 goals in 5 games. In contrast Lionel Messi who won the Ballon D’or in 2021 scored 30 goals in 35 games and got 11 assists in La Liga for Barcelona and also 5 goals and 2 assists in 6 games.
In conclusion, Robert Lewandowski was far superior to Lionel Messi in 2021. Whether it be goals or assists or even trophies won with their respective teams Bayern Munich and Barcelona. This could possibly mean that Lionel Messi won his 7th Ballon D’or only on reputation alone and this is backed up with the stats and trophies that Lewandowski has achieved which in every aspect have been better than Lionel Messi’s in 2021.
