Salah’s double enough for Liverpool to survive late Spurs charge
By Kenneth Melheim
Mohamed Salah scores his first brace of the Premier League season as Liverpool got a hard fought three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs, but it wasn’t enough as Liverpool survived their late charge. This result leaves Liverpool in eighth place in the Premier League table, 4 points behind Tottenham who sit fourth.
With this result Jürgen Klopp’s men continued their Robin Hood like performance in the league this season by beating yet another “Big 6” team, after suffering shock defeats against both Leeds and Nottingham Forest in their last two league outings.

Against Spurs however, it seemed like the disappointment was all but forgotten as Darwin Núñez found Salah who expertly placed the goal in the back of the Tottenham net after only 11 minutes of play.
Ivan Perisic came close to equalising a few minutes later as his headed effort hit the post. And just when it looked like Tottenham were on their way back into the game, Eric Dier provided the Reds with a gift just before half-time.
The Centre-back miscued a header right into the path of Liverpool’s Egyptian King who made no mistakes alone with Spurs Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and scored his sixth league goal of the season.
Tottenham came out and looked instantly better in the second half, as they have had a habit of doing this season. Another Perisic effort hit the Woodwork Behind Alisson Becker in the Liverpool net, before an excellently placed Harry Kane shot beet the Brazilian to make it 2-1 in the 70th minute.
Tottenham went close as the game came to an end, but the Reds held on to record their first away win in the league this season.
Only one league game remaining for both teams before the World Cup break with Tottenham welcoming Leeds and Liverpool facing Southampton at Anfield.
