By George Houghton

World Cup 2022: Argentina 1-2 Saudi Arabia: Lionel Messi's penalty is cancelled out by a famous second-half comeback as Salem Al-Dawsari scores the winning goal.

At the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Salem Al-magnificent Dawsari's solo effort helped Saudi Arabia defeat Argentina 2-1 in Group C, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.

One of the biggest moments in any World Cup finals. Al-Dawsari plucked the ball out of the air, dribbled past two Argentina defenders, and curled his finish past Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

After a contentious VAR decision, Lionel Messi gave Argentina the lead from the penalty spot, but Saleh Al-Shehri equalised just three minutes later to set up an enormous upset.

Lautaro Martinez thought he had scored twice for his team with two spectacular finishes, but he was offside on both occasions.

The result ended Argentina's 36-game unbeaten streak, but it was the greatest day in Saudi Arabian football history.
